Margaret was raised in Ballinger, Texas. She attended and graduated from Ballinger High School. After graduation she attended and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. She met her husband during that time and married Glenn Rucker on June 8,1948.
Glenn and Margaret had been married for 62 years before Glenn's passing in 2010. They were faithful members of Elmdale Baptist Church and made sure their children were taught to love the Lord. Margaret served as the church clerk for many years and with Melanie's help on Saturday afternoons they would make sure the church bulletin was always ready for Sunday services.
Margaret worked at Dyess Air Force Base for 30 years in the Base Commanders Auditing Office. She retired in 1986. After retirement, she began a very important job of picking up her grandsons, Greg and Brad, from school each day. The days that Greg and Brad were able to spend with Gram were treasured by her and the boys. She also volunteered at the Gift Shop at Abilene Regional Hospital after retirement. Although she loved spending time with her grandsons and traveling to see her granddaughters, Margaret began to develop a love for tennis also. She became quite good at tennis and developed a killer serve that hardly any of us could return. She enjoyed league tennis and traveled with her team to several tennis tournaments. From the looks of some of the photos, they had a fabulous time together. When she could not play any longer, you could find her glued to the television watching tennis. Margaret also enjoyed doing the crossword puzzle daily, up until the day before she died. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune as well and usually completed the puzzles way before the contestants would.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Melanie McMinn and husband Clyde. Her grandchildren, Greg McMinn and wife Andrea, Brad McMinn and wife Hannah, Tara Rucker, Tamara Rucker and daughter-in-law Kim Rucker. She is also survived by her sister Katherine Metz. Margaret became "Sweet Gram" when she was blessed with 9 great grandchildren. Stone, Slate, and Steel McMinn. Sammi Rae, Chipper, Sunny, and Summer McMinn, and Sierra and Savanna Powell. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, her son Terry, father Clarence, mother Blanche, brothers Harold and Sam, and sisters Helen, Elizabeth, and Jane.
Pallbearers are Clyde McMinn, Greg McMinn, Brad McMinn, Stone McMinn, Steve Routh and Zachary Pearce. Honorary Pallbearer is Larry Routh.
