Ann was born April 15, 1942 to James and Grace Lacy in Gorman, Texas. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1960. She attended Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas. She was a dispatcher for the Abilene Police Department and a secretary at West Texas Utilities before beginning a lengthy career as a legal secretary for various law firms in the Abilene area. After several years at Blue Cross Blue Shield, she transitioned to church secretary for Crescent Heights Baptist Church where she had her first job as a teenager assisting the church secretary.
Along with her parents, Ann was a charter member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church in 1956. She married her husband, Donald Wayne Ellison, on July 2, 1966 at North Park Baptist Church. She and Don moved to Hawley, Texas in 1970 where they were active members at First Baptist Church of Hawley. During those years, Don led the music and Ann was the church pianist. Their daughter, Deborah Lynn, was born in 1971 and Elizabeth Ann was born in 1980. They enjoyed camping as a family in the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico. After Don’s death in 1997, Ann loved spending time with her 3 grandchildren and attending their various activities. She enjoyed traveling with her sisters and close friends, visiting her brother and family in Portland, Oregon, singing with Celebration Singers, and league bowling. Always an avid reader, the advent of social media opened a whole new world of friendships and associations within the Christian author community for Ann. She was a great encourager to many, a prolific book reviewer, and a worthy opponent in many online word games, most notably Words with Friends.
