Margaret Anita Beard

Margaret Beard, 86, died Saturday, November 4, 2006 at a local nursing center. Services will be in Asheville, North Carolina at a later date. Local arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Margaret was born in Maunie, Illinois on June 8, 1920 to Guston and Lola Pardue. She married Emerson M. Beard, Jr. who preceded her in death. Margaret moved to Abilene in March of this year from Asheville, North Carolina. She was a Methodist. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter, Margaret Beumer. She is survived by one son, Gus Beard and his wife Sam of Abilene; one daughter, Mary Alice Lane and her husband Vern of Swannanoa, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Matt Beard and his wife Marlee, Daniel Beard and his wife Maria, Franklin Lane and Clare Beumer; and five great-grandchildren.
