Loyce White, of Abilene, died Thursday, January 10, 2008 at the age of 73. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 pm today, Friday, January 11, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday at Wylie Baptist Church, with Rev. Lee Fuller officiating. There will be a private family graveside following the service.
January 19, 1934, Loyce was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, to Elvin and Lucille (Turner) White. He graduated from Mississippi State University. July 17, 1954, Loyce married Betty Reagh in Tupelo, Mississippi. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Navigator of C-130 aircrafts. Loyce returned to Abilene from California in 1974. He was a member of Wylie Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. Loyce also worked as an appliance repairman before retiring. He was also a member of the Wylie Lions Club.
Loyce was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Betty White, of Abilene; three daughters, Cheryl Evridge and her husband Bill, of Waco, Suzanne Staggs and her husband Shannon, of Abilene, and Melissa Sparks, of Abilene; one brother, Charles White and his wife Tina, of Tupelo, Mississippi; one sister, Joyce Vinson and her husband Alvin, Tupelo, Mississippi; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
