Major David L. Aycock, USAF (Ret.), 81, died Sunday, January 1, 2012, at an Abilene nursing home. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, David was the son of the late Josephine (Soisson) and Samuel Douglas Aycock. He married Barbara Anne Curles on January 16, 1953, in Sacramento, California. Aycock retired from the United States Air Force as a pilot. He was a graduate of McMurry University and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Abilene Survivors include his wife, Barbara Anne Aycock of Abilene; two sons, Brian Aycock and wife Jean of Milledgeville, Georgia, and James Aycock and wife Terry of Fort Worth; four daughters, Debra Morris and husband Roy of Tuscola, TX, Karen Richey and husband Roy of Cross Plains, TX, Diane Blodgett of Arlington, TX, and Kathleen Aycock of Edmonds, Washington; brother, Richard Aycock and wife Dale of Los Gatos, CA; sister, Mary Jo Aycock of Los Gatos, CA; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 5, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Msgr. Fred Nawarskas officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. A private interment with full military honors will be in Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Memorial contributions may be made to Sears Methodist Hospice, # 1 Village Drive, Suite 300, Abilene, TX 79606.
