Maggie Davis Palmer

Maggie Davis Palmer, 89, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 in Abilene, Texas.

Services will be 12:30 p.m., Monday, December 4, 2017 at Wylie Baptist Church with Rev. Darrin Ray and Rev. Rick Grant officiating.  Burial will follow in Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, December 3, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. 

Maggie was born January 28, 1928 in Coleman County, Texas.  She was the daughter of the late William Homer Davis and Ruby Lou Simmons Davis.  She had lived in Abilene since she was twelve years old.  In 1946 she graduated from Abilene High School.  Maggie married Eddie Palmer in Abilene on March 30, 1946.  She was a member of Wylie Baptist Church.  Maggie worked at Minter’s Department Store for fifteen years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Grady Davis, H. N. Davis, and Raymond Davis.

Maggie is survived by her husband, Eddie Palmer; two daughters, Linda Adams and Kathy Robbins of Abilene; one brother, Bobby Davis and wife Betsy of Coleman County, Texas; four grandchildren, Todd Widdows, Lorrie Skaats and husband Ernie, Amy Reister and husband Curt, and Kelly Moore; and five great-grandchildren.  Her two daughters, grandchildren and friends were the joy of her life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wylie Baptist Church Building Fund, 6097 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene, TX 79606; Hospice of the Big Country, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, TX 79605; or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
