Mabel Archambault, 94, died Saturday, October 14 at a local care facility. A funeral service, with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating, will be Tuesday, October 17 at 10:00 a.m. in The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow the service at the Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mabel was born August 26, 1912, in Abilene, to Martin and Eva Clack Harber. She graduated from Abilene High School. She married Samuel L. Archambault, February 14, 1942. For 12 years, she was an employee of the business office of the Thornton's Department Store. She had a 32 year career with the U.S. Postal Service and retired in 1975. Mabel was a member of the Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a past member and President of the American Business Women's Association, Key City Chapter from which she received the 1964 "Woman of the Year Award".
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Mabel is survived by her sister, Glenna Harber Mangrum of Abilene; nephew, Dr. Robert G. Mangrum and his wife Cheryl of Early, Texas; niece, Marita Mangrum Richards and her husband Melvin of Allen, Texas; and a grandnephew, Thomas Richards of Spur, Texas.
