Lynn Wade Stevens, 59, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on June 22, 2010, in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Southwest Park Baptist Church, 2901 South 20th Street, Abilene, Texas with the Rev. Mike Woodard officiating. Burial will follow at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories. Arrangements are by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Wade was born in Knox City, Texas, to the late Joe W. and Mella Maurine Stevens. He graduated from Clyde High School, Clyde, Texas, in 1969. He attended Cisco Junior College. He married Debra Ann Tower on September 4, 1976, in Abilene, Texas. Wade worked in commercial aviation for twenty-five years. He was the Line Chief for Abilene Aero for ten years. He was Director of Property and Facilities and Director of Security for Chaparral Airlines and American Eagle Airlines. He also was an Airframe and Powerplant mechanic and an Auditor for American Eagle Airlines.
Wade was preceded in death by his parents, Joe W. and Mella Maurine Johnson Stevens of Clyde, one brother, Alan Stevens of San Angelo, and his grandparents, Eddie Boy and Mary Johnson and Cal and Mabel Stevens of Munday.
Wade is survived by his wife, Debra Ann Tower Stevens, his son and daughter-in-law, Bryan Lynn and Sonja Stevens, grandchildren, Josie Lynn and Colten Russell Stevens of Abilene, one brother and sister-in-law Barry Dale and Hui Chong Stevens and niece Elizabeth and nephew Daniel of Leander, Texas, aunts LaRue Patton of Munday, Texas and Wanna Hunter of Iowa Park, Texas, and numerous cousins.
Pallbearers will be Tammy Hunter, Tim Hunter, Joe Kaercher, Ron Kaercher, Mike Lane, Skip Lane, Walter Patton, and Penny Puetz. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Baker, Kevin DePauw, Craig Jordan, Randy Roemisch, Brice Wheeler, and David Zamarripa.
Memorials may be given to Southwest Park Baptist Church-Preschool/Nursery Fund, 2901 South 20th Street, Abilene, Texas 79605, or to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, Texas 79605.
