Lynda Austin Bailey, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 at home in Abilene, Texas surrounded by her family. She was born on February 2, 1940 in Pampa, Texas to Marjorie Belle (Coker) and John Alden Austin.
Lynda, her parents and sister moved from Pampa to Amarillo in 1954 and she graduated from Amarillo High in 1958. She also attended Amarillo College and UT Austin. On June 28, 1980 Lynda married J. P. Bailey in Amarillo and resided there until and they moved to Abilene in 2009.
Lynda truly lived a life of spiritual dignity and was an inspiration to everyone and especially to those who were with her during the time of her illness and passing. She was a tireless worker, teacher, mentor and so full of love for her family and Jesus Christ.
Preceded in death by her parents, Lynda is survived by her husband J. P. of Abilene; sister April Hudson and husband Leonard of Colleyville; daughter Dana Kay of Dallas; son Bo Kay and wife Traci and their children Beckett and Nash of Dallas; stepdaughters Michelle Bailey of Amarillo and Melissa Triano and husband Jeff and their children Dackota and Lily of Abilene.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 15 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road followed with a burial service at Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene. Pallbearers were Jeff Triano, Dackota Triano, Leonard Hudson, Dax Hudson, Soapy Sudbury and Mike Howland. Specials thanks to Cecilia Cook and Linda Porter for their tender care.
