Luke Anthony Taylor

Luke Taylor, 64 years old, passed away at home in Abilene, Texas. The man, the myth, the legend told his last inappropriate joke on Monday, March 17, 2025, which cannot be printed here. Never one to pass up an opportunity to get an easy laugh, he is best remembered for his witty sense of humor.

Visitation will be from 6 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, with Pastor Clyde Kieschnick “Pastor K” of Zion Lutheran Church officiating.

Luke was born in Hamilton, Ontario, to Jim and Pat Taylor on June 18, 1960. He graduated from Clyde High School in 1978 and from McMurry University in 1982 and 1984, earning National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics first team All-American playing Center in 1981 and 1982. He was inducted into the McMurry University Hall of Honor in 2008 and the All-Century team in 2024. He married Lorna Taylor (neé Potter) on December 14, 1985, in Abilene, Texas. He worked as a History teacher and coached Track and Field for 30 years, creating a positive impact on his students’ lives. An avid fan of camping, he enjoyed spending his summers exploring Texas.

Luke was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Taylor and Pat Taylor (neé Moore).

Terribly missing him are his adoring wife of 39 years, Lorna Taylor (neé Potter); his beloved daughters, Brandi Taylor and Krissy Taylor; and his loving siblings Glenn Taylor, Steve Taylor (wife Gaylene), Jimmy Taylor (wife Lisa), Kathleen Rohmer (husband Chris), and Joe Taylor (wife Diane).
