Lucy Morris Busby, 88, of Abilene, died January 1, 2009 at a local nursing home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 in the Rule Cemetery in Rule, Texas. Dr. Jeff Reid and Rex Nutt will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2009 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Lucy was born in Comanche County on October 18, 1920 to the late Curtis Young Morris and Jessie Mae (Smith) Morris. She was a highly valued employee of Houston Physical Therapy Service, Inc. in Houston, Texas from 1964 to 1993. She worked as an office administrative clerk and aide to the physical therapists of that company for 27 years; she interfaced with patients every day and always offered a compassionate and caring hand to those with health related needs. Lucy was a person that truly loved her Lord. While in Houston she was a member of the Long Point Baptist Church. After moving to Abilene in 1993 she was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
Preceding Lucy in death were her parents; one son, Morris Neal Busby; two brothers, John Morris and Troy Morris and one sister, Mildred Morris Austin. She is survived by nieces, Jerri Alexander, of Abilene, Gail Traylor, of Winters and Jackie Michal, of Garland, Wanda Ford and Janie Morris of Houston, Emily Davis, Sandra Hendricks and Frankie Morris who all live in California; a nephew John Morris, of Cisco, Texas; and a cousin, a David Williams of Houston. She is also survived by her special friends and caregivers Eugenia Burton, Peggy Lopez. Other dear friends include Linda and Eric Martin, Rex and JoAnn Nutt, Jan Meyers, Jean Hunter and Eva Cason, One very special young man is Joshua Roberts of Hong Kong, China and a host of other friends, as she was a much loved person.
Danny and Mike Prado, Stephen Michal, Rick Weatherl, Bob Eagle and Mike Alexander will serve as pallbearers.
