Lucinda Ann "Cindy" Woodard, 54, died Sunday, August 20, 2006 in Pataskala, Ohio after a long illness. A funeral service, with Reverend Joe Welsh officiating, will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2006 in The First Baptist Church of Abilene. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. There will be a visitation at the Funeral Home on Monday, September 4, 2006 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.
Lucinda was born November 1, 1951 in Breckenridge, Texas to Pierre and Lina Sue Milam Samford. She graduated from high school in Lovington, New Mexico and then from Abilene Commercial College in April of 1971.
Cindy was a Baptist and was employed as an executive secretary at West Texas Utilities for 25 years. She was an active volunteer in Pataskala schools. She was the much loved and devoted wife of Ray Woodard for 29 years, as well as the loving and devoted mother to their two children, Stuart Reed Woodard, who attends The Ohio State University, and young daughter, Charlsey Ann Woodard of the home.
In addition to her husband and children, Cindy is survived by her parents, Pierre and Lina Sue Samford of Abilene; two brothers, Garry Ben Samford and wife Tana and daughter Amanda of Odessa, and Samuel Monroe Samford of Abilene; a niece, Cynthia Ann Conngleton and husband Keith and son Blake of Tyler; nephew Brian Samford and wife Misty and their three children of Palestine, Texas; two beloved aunts, Evelyn Samford of Hobbs, New Mexico and Lillian Broach of Trinity, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Brian Samford, Keith Conngleton, Tom Samford, Sam Walker, Jerry Hefner, Larry Connors and Matthew Connors.
