Loyd Clinton Keith, 84, died Sunday, April 12, 2009, at an Abilene care center.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Dr. Phil Christopher officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, Texas. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Born in Caps, Texas on February 23, 1925, Loyd was the son of Vera (Harper) and James P. Keith. He was a graduate of Abilene High School and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. Loyd had a career in freight sales, having worked for Merchants Fast Motor Lines and later Yellow Motor Freight from which he retired.
Loyd married Grace Buchanan on September 27, 1952 in Abilene, Texas. He was a member and deacon emeritus of First Baptist Church in Abilene.
His parents; brother, John Keith; and sisters, Mozelle Keith, Pauline Tate and Annie Ruth Lyles, preceded him in death.
Loyd is survived by his wife, Grace B. Keith of Abilene; son, David C. Keith of Weatherford; daughter, Karen Rogers and husband, Jimmy, of Plainview; grandchildren, Sarah Rogers and Jacob Rogers; brothers, Lee P. "Slick" Keith of Caps, Texas, and Bill Keith and wife, Evelyn, of Abilene; two nieces and two nephews.
