Lou Marvin Adams, 80, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on October 18, 2016 in Abilene.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7:00pm on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, October 21, 2016 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Amy Feltz of Aldersgate, officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson, TX. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Lou was born in Anson, Texas to Grace Ely Marvin and Harry Franklin Marvin on June 11, 1936. She went to school and graduated from Abilene High School and attended Hardin Simmons University and the University of North Texas. She married Doyl Adams on July 24, 1954 in Abilene. She raised four daughters who are all successful professionals, including a Kindergarten teacher, a certified public accountant, a registered nurse with a master's degree, and a pulmonary/critical physician. She worked as a registered histologic technician, HT ASCP for Hendrick Medical Center and Clinical Pathology Associates for 24 years. She was a member of Eastern Star, the AHS Ladies of '53, Red Hat Society, a Girl Scout Leader, and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Abilene for over 50 years.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Ely Marvin; her niece, Laurie Marvin Collie; and her daughter, Marcia Kay Adams.
Lou is survived by her daughters: Cathy Adams Hogsett and her husband Tim, of Buda; Jennifer Adams Richardson and her husband Darrell, of Eula; Janet Adams, of San Antonio; and Sandra Adams Lobo and her husband Mark of San Antonio; as well as her niece, who has been 'adopted' as a daughter, Rene Marvin Melanson and her husband Joe and children Ryan and Jonathon Osborne of Port Neches; her granddaughters: Michelle Woodall of San Antonio and Holly Hogsett of Buda; her cousin Jerry Watts of Missouri; and her adopted family, Sean and Beth Desrochers and their children Tracy, Sean, Rebecca, Derek, and Nicholas.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Watts, Tim Hogsett, Darrell Richardson, Sean Desrochers, Jacob Rea, and Miguel Reyna
