Loretta Ann Hiller Newberry, beloved mom and Sugs was called home Saturday, July 24, 2021, surrounded by her girls. Heaven gained a truly beautiful soul.
Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home (6449 Buffalo Gap Rd, Abilene TX) with Cody Cochran officiating. Burial will follow at Potosi Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 27th from 5pm-7pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Loretta was born June 8, 1953, to Lloyd & Elizabeth Hiller. In 1971, she graduated from Cooper High School and attended McMurry College.
Her most favorite roles were being "Mom" & "Sugs" and she was the best at both.
Her girls & four grandkids were her world. On any given weekend, she could be found embarking on a new adventure with the grandkids. Whether it was hiking in the state park, playing in the river, going down waterslides, or backyard Nerf wars, her heart was happy playing with the grandkids. She rarely missed one of their school programs or games. Loretta was also an extremely talented artist. While oil paintings were her specialty, she could paint anything! She always took great pride in the life size horses she hand painted for Teskey's in Weatherford. She also illustrated several children's books. Friends and family always relied on her for artsy projects. She had a love for Jesus, sunshine, fresh air and laughter. Her kindness and love was felt by so many. She loved many of her coworkers and customers at First Bank Texas. Even though her time on earth was cut entirely too short, we are thankful to have had the very best Mom, Sugs, and friend.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Elizabeth Hiller; and a nephew, Justin Hiller.
She is survived by her two daughters: Emily Gilmore of Brock and Linsey & Tim Green of Abilene; four grandchildren: Kynlee & Kolyer Gilmore of Brock and Judson & Jolee Green of Abilene; one brother James & Patricia Hiller of Azle; one nephew Jeff & Stephanie Hiller of Waco.

Sugs had a zest for life and was a bright light for so many. To honor her, please wear bright colors.
