Loretta Dale Medley

Loretta Dale Medley, 83, of Abilene, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. She was born on April 16, 1938 in San Angelo to Lee Oliver and Ethel (Legate) Oliver.

Visitation will be Monday, January 3, 2022 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Tuesday, January 4, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, with Rudy Fambrough and Chris Hale officiating. Burial will follow at 11:00 am at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.

Loretta married Jerry Medley on July 18, 1968 in Anson. She and Jerry raised three boys, Lance, Lloyd, and Leroy. She enjoyed spending her time reading, having read thousands of books throughout her life. Loretta had a passion for volunteering in the Abilene Baptist Association and has been a member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church since October 5, 2001.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lee and Ethel Oliver, her son Lance Owen Sims, and her two sisters Verna Lee and Charlene.

Loretta is survived by her husband Jerry Medley, sons Lloyd and Leroy Sims, sisters Mackie Webb and Vilene West, and grandchildren Lillian, Jerry, Matthew, Shay, and Chris, as well as her great-grandchildren Blue King and Logan Sims.
