Loren Ferrell Roberts

Loren Ferrell Roberts, 81, of Abilene, Texas passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015 in Abilene. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 29, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Loren Roberts was born in Midland, Texas to Ferrell Stewart and Estalee Cook on November 17, 1933. He graduated from Midland High School in 1952. Loren married Bobbie Sue Shelton on June 4, 1955 in Midland. He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1958. He worked in corporate real estate for many years. Loren was preceded in death by his mother and father; stepfather J. C. (Jake) Roberts; and brother M. P. (Snookie) Roberts. Loren is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bobbie; daughters Susan Miller and Shannon Roberts; son Phillip Roberts and wife Sue; grandchildren Richard and Richelle Miller and their father, Phil Miller, and Rebecca, James and Tori Roberts. Survivors also include his sister-in-law, Chris Roberts, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorials may be given to Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, 701 So. Pioneer Drive, Abilene, TX 79605; Hardin-Simmons University Alumni Association, HSU Station, Box 16100, Abilene TX 79698; or a charity of the donor’s choice.
