Lorain Kauffman, of Abilene, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the age of 100. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday at Elmwood Memorial Park. Dr. Jeff Reid will officiate. Lorain was born on October 18, 1915 in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma to George and Annie McCraw. She was raised on a farm and loved gardening. Lorain married Clarence C. Kauffman. He preceded her in death in 1983. She was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and three sisters. Lorain is survived by her daughter, Shirley Miers of Abilene and her granddaugher, Tonya Connell and husband Mike of Hutto, Texas; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Memorials may be made in Lorain’s honor to the donor’s favorite charity.
