Loleta Treadwell, 90 years of age, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 22, in Abilene. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at First Baptist Church Chapel in Abilene with the Dr. Phil Christopher of First Baptist officiating. Burial will follow at Hamlin Memorial Cemetery in Hamlin, Texas. Arrangements are by Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Loleta was born in Fisher County, Texas, to Jurden and Lily Ubben on January 27, 1922. She attended school in Hamlin. Sixty-nine years ago she married Herman Treadwell on November 7, 1942, in Hamlin. She graduated from Hardin-Simmons University, Summa Cum Laude. In her early years she worked as an art teacher and homemaker. She was always dedicated to her church home serving in Sunday School and other areas. In San Antonio at Manor Baptist she was president of WMU, and in Abilene at First Baptist she was a longtime active member of the Sarah's Class.
Loleta was preceded in death by her parents, Jurden and Lily Ubben, and her sister, Frances Simon.
Loleta is survived by her husband, Herman Treadwell; daughter, Lily Ann and her spouse Barry New of Plano, Texas; grandson, Jason New and wife Melissa of Frisco, Texas; and great-grandchildren, three-year-old Collin and nine-month-old Elania.
