Lola Antilley, 90, of Abilene died Monday, January 2, 2017. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 5, 2017 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Lola, the daughter of Nancy and Zack Best, was born on April 19, 1926 in Ovalo, Texas. She graduated from Ovalo High School. Lola married T.H. Antilley on September 2, 1944 in Elmdale. She worked as a librarian for AISD for 15 years. After Lola retired, she was certified to teach ceramics and opened a shop called Klay Kitchen. She was a member of Elmdale Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. She and her husband volunteered at Abilene Baptist Association Social Ministries for 20 years. Because of this service, they were named Layperson of the Year in 1997. Lola loved to cook, read, paint, garden, and most of all spend time with her friends and family. She was a most hospitable person. Mrs. Antilley was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters, Marie Eaton and Ava Mae Suber; one brother, Alvin Roy Best; and great-grandson Ian Wesley Giger. She is survived by three sons and their spouses, David Antilley and Beverly of Beaumont, Robert Antilley and Linda of Wichita Falls, Mark Antilley and Celinda of Austin; daughter Nancy Chrismer and husband Chris of Abilene; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family request that memorials be made to Elmdale Baptist Church Building Fund, 233 S. Elmdale Rd., Abilene, TX 79602 or Disability Resources Inc., 3602 N. Clack, Abilene, TX 79603. Mrs. Antilley’s family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff of Chisholm Place Assisted Living Facility and the staff of Kinder Hearts Hospice; especially, Leslie, Bertha, and Donna.
