Lois Caldwell Peck, 77, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2007 in Abilene. A celebration of her life will be Monday, July 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Central Presbyterian Church with Reverend Janice Six. The family will be receiving friends, Sunday 5:00-7:00 pm at the Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Lois was born on March 9, 1930 to Hattie and Spencer Hudson Caldwell in Stamford, Texas. She graduated from Stamford High School and the University of North Texas.
She taught in Ft. Worth, Texas and Bonham Elementary School in Abilene. She loved her students and made a lasting impact on many children.
She loved her family, her church and her community. She served as President of Crockett Elementary PTA and President of Jefferson Junior High PTA. Lois was a very giving person, having served as a volunteer at the Presbyterian Food Pantry.
Among her civic involvement, she was a long time member of the Abilene Philharmonic Guild, serving that organization in many capacities. She also was a member of Los Afficionadas, The Grace Museum, The Center for Contemporary Arts, Pensadores Club, Abilene Woman's Club, Cancer Services Network Auxiliary and Slipper Club.
Lois once said that her hobby was loving people, and in return she was loved and respected by all who knew her. Her sense of humor, perky smile and cheerful personality will live forever in the hearts of her many friends.
The family is grateful to Dr. Mark Reedy, Ginger Fabrizio, P.A., and Dr. Reedy's staff for their compassionate and devoted care and the family would like to thank the nursing staff of Hendrick Hospice Care.
Survivors are her husband of 42 years, Frank E. Peck; daughters, Julie Peck Bryan of San Antonio, Texas; Pennie Peck and husband, Mark Jamieson of Atlanta, Georgia; Martha Peck Cunningham and husband, Dr. Jim Cunningham of Ft. Worth, Texas; son, Paul Peck of San Francisco, California; grandchildren, Whitney, Charlie and Sam Cunningham; niece, Virginia Fuller and husband, Robert Fuller; nephew, Frank Elkin; and two great nieces. She was predeceased by her mother and father and her sister, Rowena Caldwell Elkin and a Brother-In-Law, Dr Price Bush Elkin.
