Lois Irene Jones Elliott Haddock, age 99, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18th, at Wylie Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18th, at Wylie Baptist Church, Abilene with John Ross Fanning officiating. Burial will follow at Admiral Cemetery in Callahan County. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Lois was born at Rowden, Texas, to Walter F. and Rachel Mauldin Jones on January 21, 1918. She went to school at Oaklawn school near Rowden in Callahan County, TX. She married the love of her life, Aaron Burr Elliott, also of Rowden. After their marriage on September 25, 1938, they lived in Rowden until about 1942 when they moved to Irving, TX. They lived in Irving until 1954 when her husband became critically ill and died. Lois and her children moved to Abilene in 1954 to be near family. Lois did a number of jobs to support her family such as babysitting, ironing, house cleaning and working in the church nursery at Wylie Baptist Church where her family attended for a number of years. She participated in a number of activities at Wylie Baptist Church, especially the PEP Club for senior citizens. After her children were grown, Lois met her second husband, Earl C. Haddock, and they shared seventeen years together. He passed away in 1980.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, by her two husbands, brothers Cecil, Harold and Oscar Jones, son-in-law Philip Dodson and granddaughter, Sheri Dodson Linton.
Lois is survived by her sister, Lorene O'Dell, daughter Bertha Elliott Dodson and children Glenda (Mark) Comiskey, Jimmy (Lisa) Dodson, Andrea (Ryan) Quigley and Julie Cortez; son Curtis Roy Elliott and wife, Mattie Elliott and their children Viki (Brian) Taylor, Tina (Shad) Philips and Tony (Lucinda)Elliott; son Bernice Duane Elliott and wife Bobbie Elliott and their children Ronnie, David (Tammy) and Gary (Cathy) Elliott. Also she leaves thirty-one great-grandchildren and twenty-five great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Memorials may be given to Wylie Baptist Church Senior Activities, 6097 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene, TX 79606; Hospice of the Big Country, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, TX 79605; or the donor's charity of choice.
The family wishes to express their love and appreciation to everyone at Mesa Springs Nursing Center, especially Lisa Bolin, for the loving care they all gave our mother and grandmother.
