Loella McDonald, 90, of Abilene, passed away Monday, May 21, 2012 at Coronado Nursing Center. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the First Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Garland Wallace will officiate. Burial will follow in the Buffalo Gap Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Wednesday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Loella was born January 25, 1922 in Quinton, Oklahoma to Frank and Minnie (Steward) Brown. She married Charlie B. McDonald in Abilene on April 19, 1941. They moved from Buffalo Gap to Abilene in 1958. Loella was a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Abilene.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Minnie Brown; her husband, Charlie McDonald on January 10, 2008; two grandsons, Jody McDonald and Brad McDonald, and three sisters.
Loella is survived by two sons, Jerry McDonald and wife Lynda of Abilene, Dennis McDonald and wife Charolett of Clyde; one daughter, Sandra Hollowell and husband Tommy of Abilene; five grandchildren: Tommy Glen Hollowell and wife Dena, of Abilene, Wade McDonald, also of Abilene, Mindy Broadfoot and husband Terry of Clyde, Pamela Hollowell of Austin and Teri Balich and husband Dan of Haslet; fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Loella's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
