Lockilou Bynum, 81, of Abilene passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at a local nursing center. Graveside services, with Rev. Ronnie Freeman officiating, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Abilene Municipal Cemetery, Cedar Hill Section. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
September 26, 1927, Lockilou was born the daughter of the late Paul Laverne Bynum and Elizabeth (Beam) Bynum in Abilene, Texas. She graduated from Abilene High School. Abilene was Lockilou's home most of her life. She also lived in Dallas and Houston for a period of time.
Lockilou spent most of her life working as a Legal Secretary. She was a longtime member of the Legal Secretaries Association where she also served as President. She was a Baptist
She was preceded in death by her parents. Lockilou is survived by one brother, Bobby Paul Bynum and his wife Joye; one niece, Debbie Boles and her husband Joe Mack, all of Trent; two nephews, Bobby Paul Bynum, Jr., also of Trent, and David Beam Bynum and his wife Mary Lisa, of Alpine. She is also survived by five great-nieces, three great-nephews, one great-great niece, two great-great nephews, as well as several cousins.
