Lloyd Harold Hudman, 93, of Abilene, passed away on the 27th of February 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
A committal service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene with Guy Irvin and Jeff Zirkle of First United Methodist Church officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Reception to be held at Wisteria Place in the dining room from 2:00-3:00 pm.
Hud was born in Mineral Wells, TX to Jesse P. Hudman and Carrie Lou Gilbert Hudman on December 20, 1923. He was raised by Uncle Elmer W. Hudman and Aunt Belva Hudman. He graduated from high school in 1942 before entering the Army Air Force. Hud served from September 1942 until September 1945 as an Army Air Force, Radio and Radar Operator on a B-24 Bomber and served in the South Pacific. Hud was awarded the Air France Medal with Four Oakland Clusters, DFC (Distinguished Flying Cross) and the Good Conduct Medal. He also worked as a fireman and in security testing engines for space shuttles for Boeing.
Hud was preceded in death by his first wife, June Hudman and his brothers, Cotti, Wes, and Vernon Hudman along with his sisters, Thora Cole and Ruby Cobb.
He is survived by his present wife, Patsy McMillan Ransleben Hudman; his son, David Brown and wife Gala of Terrell, TX; his daughters, Elner Gunka and Peggye Ord of Balch Springs, TX; his stepchildren, Linda Fowler and husband Brice of Abilene, TX along with Randy Ransleben and wife Kathleen of Bellaire, TX; his grandchildren, Ron Langhurst, Gina McKee and husband Rob, Cory Brown and Stormy, Greg Ord, David Hudman and wife Pheadra, April Haas and husband David, Louis Haddad and wife Leah, and Rachel Ransleben; and his 12 great-grandchildren.
Hud always accepted new members into his family without hesitation. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
