‘Lizabeth (Libby) Roe, 69, of Abilene entered the Kingdom of Heaven on August 22, 2015.
‘Lizabeth was born in San Antonio, TX to Major Donald G. and Margaret E. Thomason on September 25, 1945. She saw much of the world as a child before her father’s final assignment at Dyess Air Force Base. ‘Lizabeth graduated from Cooper High school in 1963 and attended business college. She married Abilene Police Sgt. Jim Roe on September 18, 1965 and was a lifelong resident of Abilene.
Prior to retirement, ‘Lizabeth worked for Dr. Sam Alibhai, OB/GYN. ‘Lizabeth had a charismatic spirit and was loved by all who met her – she was a blessing and inspiration to so many. She loved cooking and delighted in baking goodies for others “just because.” ‘Lizabeth devoted most of her time to the love and care of her family. She was the greatest teacher of love, generosity, courage, strength and optimism.
‘Lizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Roe; parents, Donald G. and Margaret Thomason; sister, Sharon Moore; brother, Donald G. Thomason, II and nephew, Donald G. Thomason, III.
She is survived by son, James C. Roe, II and wife, Kim; son, John T. Roe and wife, Lea; daughter, Mary-Margaret (Margi) McCleskey and husband, Todd; four granddaughters, Taren Latta, Lacy Roe, Carson McCleskey, Camryn McCleskey; one great-grandson, Cayden Click; nieces, Kim Bailey and Susan Thatcher; and nephew, Rusty McManis.
Family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Friday, August 28th at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, August 29th in the chapel at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
