Linda Ann Maurer, age 53, beloved wife and mother, died at Hendrick Medical Center, Abilene, Texas, on Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Her battle with cancer came to a peaceful end and she is now enjoying the unveiled presence of God.
Born July 20, 1961, in Bellingham, Washington, to Larry and Joanne Simon, she spent most of her childhood and teenage years in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Linda received her BA in Music Education from Stetson University, Deland, Florida in 1984. She returned to school in recent years to work on fulfilling requirements for a teaching certificate. Linda loved to play the flute and gave flute lessons in various public schools in Abilene. She was a woman of beauty, strength, and faith and was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Randall J. Maurer, and her children Lauren and Lynsi Maurer, father-in-law Mel Maurer, brother-in-law, Richard Maurer and his wife Dale. She is also survived by her mother, Joanne Simon, brother, Tim Simon, and sister Wendy.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, Abilene, Texas.
