Linda Kay Lambert, 57, formerly of Abilene, went into the arms of her Heavenly Father, Thursday, July 30, 2009, in Uvalde, Texas.
Born in Abilene, Texas on July 31, 1951, Linda was the daughter of Maxine (Humphrey) and H. M. Landers. In Abilene, she graduated from Cooper High School in 1969 and Glen & Lottie's School of Beauty on March 23, 1970.
Linda married Calvin W. Lambert on February 14, 1971 in Abilene. A homemaker, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Linda dropped everything to help others regardless of their needs and their distance in location at the expense of her own health or needs.
She was a Navy Ombudsman, volunteering as a counselor and advisor to younger military families. She had been active with the Navy Junior ROTC Parents and Students for the past 16 years.
Her parents and a sister, Janice McFarland, preceded her in death.
Linda is survived by her husband, Calvin W. Lambert of Uvalde; son, Michael Lambert and wife, Brandi, of Elizabeth, Colorado; daughter, Wendy Lambert of Uvalde; and four grandchildren, Westley, Lance, Zachary and Kaylea. Survivors also include two sisters, Marcia Villegas and husband, Ernie of Arlington and DeeAnn Novakosky and husband, Patrick J., of Huntsville, and mother-in-law, Louise Lambert of Tuscola, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, with Rev. Stan Allcorn officiating. Interment will follow in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Haile, Chase Guernsey, Drew Lamar, Tony Sweet, Josh Sweet, Westley Stephens, Junior Villegas, John A. Landers, and Jet Carriker.
