Lily Monteith

Lily Marie Monteith, 97, passed away on March 24, 2025, in Abilene.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Rosewood Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of The Rosewood Funeral Home, 2602 South Houston Ave., Humble, Texas 77396.

Lily Monteith was born in Halfway, Texas to James & Lillia Gilbert on October 25, 1927. She graduated from Lippert's Business College in Midland. She married Earl Keahey Monteith on January 24, 1953, and worked for a law firm in Midland until 1969 when they relocated to El Paso, Texas where she was a freelance court reporter for 22 years. She was very involved in church, First Methodist & St. Paul's Methodist in Midland, Trinity-First United Methodist in El Paso and First Methodist of Humble.

Lily was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, her brothers William Gilbert, Eugene Gilbert, and Jim Gilbert and her sisters Louise Baker, Gloria Mickey, and Laura Jane Gammage and her great-grandson Riley Monteith.

Lily is survived by her sister-in-law, Etta Marie Gilbert; her son, Cal Monteith, and his wife Siana; her daughter, Diane Monteith; her grandchildren, Craig Monteith and his wife Kelley, Daphne Monteith, Joseph Monteith; and her great-grandchildren, Cody, Kinsley, Lilly & Campbell Monteith.
