Lillie Ladell Rister

Lillie Ladell Rister was born in Paris, Texas (Lamar County) April 24, 1911. She passed away peacefully at the age of 99, Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Merkel Nursing Home. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 7, at Tye Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the Tye Cemetery directed by Hamil Funeral Homes, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. She was married to Ossie Carroll Rister, in Tye on July 26, 1931. She will now reunite with her husband, brothers, sisters and parents in heaven and with the Lord. She was a member of the Iris Garden Club and also loved to quilt for her grandchildren. She was a very loving wife, mother and sister. She was one of the oldest living members of the Tye Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, Ossie Carroll Rister, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Frances Rister of Heath, Texas; one brother, William Chase of New Jersey; two sisters, Ruth Clark of Merkel and Dolores Leeson of Abilene; three grandchildren, Michelle Lynn Rister Rodriguez of Dallas; Tiffany Nicole Rister of Heath, Texas; and Jeffrey Carroll Rister of Austin. Pallbearers will be Calvin Rister, Clinton Rister, Johnny Rister, Phillip Rister, David Rodriguez, and Johnny Teaff. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kirby Leeson and Jeffrey Rister.
