Lillie Faye Johnson, 62, of Abilene, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 15, 2009. A funeral celebration of Faye's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday May 23, 2009 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Officiating will be the Reverends Jesse Hooper and Iziar Lankford. Burial will follow in the Abilene Municipal Cemetery, Masonic Section. The family wake will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Born in Stamford, Texas on July 25, 1946, Faye was the daughter of Annie (Taylor) and Richard Davis. She graduated from Hamlin High School and received a LVN degree. In 1966, she moved from Stamford to Abilene where she was a member of Plum Street United Methodist Church.
Preceding Faye in death were her parents; one brother, Johnny Richard Davis; one sister Claudia Marsh and one son, Christopher Tyree Johnson who passed on August 16, 2006.
Those left behind to cherish Faye's memory are one son, Rich Johnson, of Abilene; six sisters, Alene Matthews, Jewel Clemons, Frankie Davis, Mattie Johnson, Eula Cooper and Doris Jean Giles; seven granddaughters; two grandsons; two great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
