Lessie "Humpy" Scarborough, 80, of Abilene, died Thursday, January 22, 2009 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2009 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in the Potosi Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
October 13, 1928, Lessie was born in Abilene, Texas to the late C.E. Clements and Mary (Adams) Clements. Lessie was a lifelong resident of Abilene. She was employed by Super Duper Grocery Stores for many years. She married Randolph Scarborough in Abilene in 1945. Lessie was a member of Wylie Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter. Lessie is survived by her husband, Randolph Scarborough, of Abilene; one son, Randy Scarborough and wife Glenda, of Cisco; one daughter, Sharon Doster and husband Thomas, of Abilene; one brother, E.H. "Buddy" Clements, of Abilene; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vernon Perry, Don Perry, L.H. Marsh, Billy W. Walker, Eldon Clements, Jr., Robert Wheeler and Norman Aulseybrook will serve as pallbearers.
