Leslie Martin Stratton, 49, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 in Abilene.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5410 Buffalo Gap Road with Rev. Msgr. Frederick Nawarskas and Deacon Jerry Schwalb officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception at the church immediately following the service. Arrangements are being made by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Leslie’s husband, Sam, will escort her cremains to California to be scattered at sea to honor Leslie’s wishes.
Leslie was born at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Flower Bluff, Texas, to Richard H. Martin and Donna R. (Baker) Martin on May 19, 1965. She attended school in Norfolk, VA, Alameda, CA, and Poway, CA, graduating from Poway High School. She attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona for two years.
In August of 1998, Leslie moved from Poway, California to Abilene. She worked as an Information System Technician for Hendrick Medical System for the past six years. She was recognized as Outstanding Information System Technician for the Quarter, July of 2012.
Leslie married Sam Stratton on May 12, 2007 in Abilene, Texas.
She was preceded in death by all four of her grandparents.
Leslie is survived by her husband, Sam Stratton of Abilene; parents, Richard and Donna Martin of Abilene; three sisters, Mary Clark and husband Jim of Abilene, Betsy Pfeiffer and husband Tom of Raton, N.M.; and Ann Pflugrath and husband Bill of Albuquerque, N.M; and seven nieces and nephews, Caitlyn Clark, Keven Clark, Kyleigh Clark, Samantha Pfeiffer, Bryce Pfeiffer, Katie Pflugrath, and Richard A. Stratton II, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins and numerous loving friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rescue the Animals SPCA, 4620 N. 1st Street, Abilene, TX 79603, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
