Leonard Alvin Greer

Leonard A. Greer, 86, of Abilene, died Monday, July 7, 2008 at a local medical facility. The family will receive friends at the home of Dennis Greer, 3010 San Miguel, Abilene, Texas on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from 6-8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Southwest Park Baptist Church, with Rev. Mike Woodard officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. Leonard was born the son of the late Alvin Luther Greer and Hettie Lee (Davidson) Greer on February 26, 1922 in Abilene, Texas. He married Ernestine Crawford in Abilene on August 3, 1946. Leonard was a long time member of Southwest Park Baptist Church. Leonard and his brother Cecil owned and operated Greer's Caf? in Abilene for over 28 years. Leonard also served his country as a Marine during WWII in the South Pacific Theatre. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, J.E. Greer and Cecil Greer; one sister, Dorothy Low. He is survived by his wife Ernestine of Abilene; two sons, James Greer and his wife Patti, of Abilene, and Dennis Greer and wife Brenda, of Abilene; five grandchildren, Josh Greer, Jonathan Greer, Jami Cardwell and her husband Chris, Lane Greer and Wes Greer. Memorials may be made in honor of Leonard Greer to Southwest Park Baptist Church, 2901 South 20th, Abilene, Texas 79605.
