Leona “Lee” Lois Levens, 92, died Friday, February 6, 2015 in Abilene. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, with Mike Bailey, Chaplain with Hospice of the Big Country, officiating. Born in Rotan, Texas on January 11, 1923, Lee was the daughter of Orah (Chance) and Henry Bruce Campbell. After graduation from high school she attended college for two years. Lee had been a resident of Abilene for forty plus years. She was very active in membership and volunteer work for the following organizations: American Red Cross for 44 years; Meals on Wheels, Plus; Good Sam’s Travel Club Early Birds as a member; Co-Founder of the Retired Military Wives Club; Sears Methodist Center volunteer for ten years; and volunteer at Dyess AFB Pharmacy from 1972 to 2010. She was a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas O. Levens, her parents, and two sisters. Lee is survived by one niece, Janice Etensohn of Yuma, Arizona, and a sister-in-law, Pauline O’Neal of Fresno, California. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
