Lenora E. Higgins Hunt

Lenora Estelle Higgins Hunt of Winters, Texas passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2012 in Winters. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, October 9, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Paige Baize officiating. Graveside services will follow in Bradshaw Cemetery directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Lenora was born at Norton, Texas to Lonnie and Mary Estelle Fowler on April 30, 1931. She went to school at Norton. Lenora married Pete Higgins on November 1, 1947. She was a homemaker and farmer's wife of which she took great pride and honor and after her children were grown worked at Abilene Lumber. After Pete's death, she married Robert Hunt on February 2, 2002. Lenora was preceded in death by Pete Higgins Sr., Robert Hunt, her brother Virgil Fowler and grandsons Jon Harlan Vaughan and Zachary James Vaughan. Lenora is survived by her four children and two step-children, William Howard Higgins Jr. and wife Debbie of Dublin, Nancy Ward and husband Ronnie of Houston, Barbara Vaughan and husband Arie of Virginia and Susan Shepard and husband Steven of Tuscola, step-son Reese Wayne Hunt and wife Dahelia of Moro, step-daughter Melanie Lyn Hunt of Austin, one sister Molly Poindexter and one brother Lonnie Fowler, both of Winters. She is survived by four grandchildren, William Howard Higgins III, Jennifer Estelle Petru, Kevin Scott Higgins and Stephanie Maye Casey, and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Ronnie Ward, Steven Shepard, Arie Vaughan, William Howard Higgins III, Kevin Scott Higgins, Taylor Higgins, Rich Petru, and Kyle Casey. Memorial may be given to Bradshaw Cemetery Association, c/o Kendall Badgett, 2117 So. Elmwood Dr., Abilene, TX 79605, and/or Interim Hospice, 7008 Indiana Ave. Suite A, Lubbock Texas 79413.
