Lena Ruth Farquhar

Lena Ruth Farquhar passed away Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the age of 82. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at Broadview Baptist Church, with Randy Packwood officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. October 3, 1924, Lena was born to Otis and Maggie (Broudas) Ferguson in Foard County, Texas. She graduated from high school in Thalia, Texas. Lena married J.E. Farquhar in Abilene. Lena was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who was completely devoted to her family. She was a member of Broadview Baptist Church. Lena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband J.E. Farquhar in 1994, one daughter, Ruth Kathryn Manley in 2002, two brothers, three sisters, and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Jerry Wayne Farquhar and his wife Sherry of Post; one daughter, Carolyn Packwood and her husband Mickey of Abilene; two sisters, Wanda Peel and her husband Ray of Weatherford, and Pat Vallas of California; eight grandchildren, Gena Farquhar, Danny Manley, Randy Packwood, David Farquhar, Scott Manley, Dee Farquhar, Renee Faulks, and Stacy Packwood; fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Danny Manley, David Farquhar, Scott Manley, Dee Farquhar, Jayden Packwood, Jerron Packwood, Colton Manley, and Caleb Faulks will serve as pallbearers.
