Lela Mae "Missy" Williamson, 76, of Abilene, died Saturday, April 18, 2009. Funeral services, with Rev. Rodney Watson officiating, will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Lytle South Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Missy was born August 3, 1932 in Abernathy, Texas. She was the youngest of eight children. Missy graduated from Abernathy High School and on September 1, 1949 she married Julian Anthony Williamson, Jr. He preceded her in death February 1, 2009. Moving from Bullard, Texas, Abilene has been her home for the past 11 years. Missy was a member of Lytle South Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son, Jimmy Williamson.
Missy is survived by one son, Gene Williamson and his wife Tanya, of Abilene; one brother, Doyle Smith, of Kerrville; four sisters-in-law, Betty Smith, of Lubbock, Mita Smith, of Plainview, Betty Williamson, of Greenville, and Mary Sue Myers and her husband Nuel, Jr., of Bullard; one daughter-in-law, Kay Williamson, of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Janis Goodman and husband Cody, of Abilene, Anthony Williamson and wife Brandy, of Alpha, Michigan, Christie Williamson, of Abilene, Stephanie Heatherley and husband Fred, also of Abilene, David Williamson and wife Deena, of Canyon and Amy Guerra and husband Daniel, of Amarillo. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives.
