Lee P. "Slick" Keith, 92, of Caps, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012 at a local nursing home. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Elmwood Memorial Park, Garden of Meditation Section.
Slick was born on November 28, 1919 in the Caps Community to James and Vera Lee (Harper) Keith. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1941 and served in the United States Army during World War II. After serving his country, he returned to his lifelong home in the View and Caps Communities, where he farmed all of his life. He was a member of the Caps Baptist Church.
Slick was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings; three sisters, Mozelle Keith, Pauline Tate and Annie Ruth Lyles; and three brothers, Loyd Keith, John Keith and Henry Keith. He was the last to die among all of his siblings.
He is survived by three nephews, Billy James Keith and wife Cathy of Caps, David Keith of Weatherford, Ernest Tate and wife Connie of Abilene; and three nieces, Karen Rogers and husband Jimmy of Plainview, Carol Ann Boyd of Burnet, and Judy Wowrie of Lubbock.
