Laurie Gail Fields, 48, of Nugent, Texas, passed away with her husband by her side, on the morning of Friday, September 29, 2017. Visitation will be Sunday, October 1, from 4-6 p.m., at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, in the State Room, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 2, 11:30 a.m., at Beltway Park Church North Campus, 2850 Hwy. 351, Abilene, Texas. Graveside service will follow at 1 p.m., at Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 7457 W. Lake Road. Laurie was born in Westlake, Louisiana, to James and Jennie Daigle on January 15, 1969. She graduated from Westlake High School in 1987. She joyfully served our country in the United States Air Force from 1987-1993, serving during Desert Storm and Desert Shield. She married Jay Dee Fields on April 21, 1995, in Buffalo Gap, Texas. She spent the majority of her career in the medical field working in Human Resources for Medi Plex, Hendrick Medical Center and Continue Care Hospital. Laurie loved to cook and share her recipes with many friends. She had a passion for reading, being entertained at the movies, and antiques. She especially loved music and sang a lot mostly in her car! Although her favorite activity of all time was supporting her son and cheering on her Lueders Avoca Raiders. Laurie was preceded in death by her grandparents Elbert and Opal Hebert. Laurie is survived by her husband of 22 years, Jay Fields and her son, Wyntana Fields, of Nugent. She is also survived by her parents, James and Jennie Daigle; her siblings, sister Jamie Morgan, and brother Ernest Daigle; and her grandparents, Charles and Vena Guillory, all from Louisiana. Laurie is also survived by many nieces and nephews who love her dearly. Pallbearers will be Robin "OB" Morgan, Cougar Morgan, Gunnar Morgan, Gary Bloodgood, Roddy Esposito, and Shaun Martin. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Hendrick Hospice Care for their loving care of Laurie. Memorials may be given to Hendrick Hospice Care or Lueders Avoca ISD Booster Club
