Laura Elizabeth (Bettye) Page of Abilene, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 15, 5:00 to 7:00 PM at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in the Eastland Cemetery at 3:00 PM on Wednesday.
Mrs. Page was born March 10, 1933, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Laura and Pearson Grimes, and moved at a young age to Splendora, Texas. She also lived in Cleveland before moving with her family to Eastland in 1947. After graduating from Eastland High School in May, 1951, she married William L. (Bill) Page on June 15, 1951.
Mrs. Page graduated from Midwestern University, in Wichita Falls, TX. with a BSA in Elementary Education. She taught Third Grade at Fain Elementary School in Wichita Falls for eleven years. She was a member of DAR, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Thursday Forum, Women of Rotary, and Abilene Woman's Club. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Abilene.
Mrs. Page is survived by her husband of the home, her daughters; Laura Lee Hines of Abilene; Katherine Anderson and her husband, Dicky, of Abilene; Kelly Davis and her husband, Ronnie, of Arlington, TX., and Karla Randel and her husband, Dr. Mark Randel, of Nacogdoches, TX. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren; Cara Hines, Amy Anderson Braden and her husband, Robert; Ramby Anderson and his wife, Lacey; Laura and Andy Jack; and Joseph, Phillip, Elizabeth, Pearson, and Bethany Randel; and by four great-grandchildren; Page, Pearson, and Anderson Braden, and Olivia Hines. She is also survived by her brother, Pearson Grimes, and his wife, Ellen, of Houston, her sister-in-law, Mary Page Childress and her husband, Robert, of Abilene, and by her close cousin, Mable Bradley, and her husband, Bill Bradley, of Dallas. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one grandson, John Hines.
