Laura Mae Dutelle, of Abilene, died Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the age of 80. Funeral services, with Rev. Mike Woodard officiating, will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2008 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
September 18, 1927, Laura was born in Rotan, Texas to James Wallis and Lena (Adams) Wallis. She graduated from Roby High School and then attended Scoggins Beauty School where she graduated in 1946. Laura was a hairdresser for over 50 years. She owned and operated the Family Hair Center in Abilene. She married Thomas Dutelle September 10, 1994. Laura was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Jim and Lena Wallis; her first husband, Dan Sager on January 3, 1967; her brother, Walter Wallis; two sisters, Bessie Smith and Betty Jones; and one grandchild, Garrett Daniel McMahan. Laura is survived by her husband, Tom Dutelle, of Abilene; two daughters, Susan Tedford and her husband Marshall, of Abilene, and Melissa Sager, of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren, Amy Voce and her husband Casey, Meggan Tedford, and Jennifer Cain and her husband Cory.
Memorials may be made in honor of Laura Dutelle to the Hemophilia Association, 818 East Osborn Road; Suite 105, Phoenix, AZ 85014; or to the donor's favorite charity.
