Larry Rice

Larry “L.D.” Rice, 52, died Thursday, October 2, 2014 at his residence in Abilene, Texas. Born in Snyder, Texas on December 1, 1961, he was the son of Patsy Beasley Rice and the late Jerry Rice. L.D. worked for Hostess Cakes for 20 years, and was a division supervisor when health issues forced his retirement. He was a member of Wylie Baptist Church. He loved all kinds of music and his Basset Hound, Barney. L.D. is survived by his daughter, Magen Nehls and husband Ray of Lake Dallas, Texas, and granddaughter, Izzy Nehls; mother, Pat Rice of Abilene; brother, David Rice of Abilene; two aunts, Jane Sharer of Hamlin and Rosie Langston of Odessa; one niece, Rachel Rice of Bryan, Texas; and several cousins. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, with Rev. Donny Harbers officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson, Texas. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wylie Baptist Church Building Fund, 6097 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX 79606.
