Larry Don McKinney

Larry Don McKinney, 53, of Abilene, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at North Park Baptist Church with Rev. Louis Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Abilene Municipal Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Larry was born November 23, 1957 in Abilene, Texas to Jerry Bob and Carolyn (Shepherd) McKinney. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1976. Larry worked as a Correctional Officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Robertson Unit. He was a member of North Park Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father and one granddaughter, Brandon'a McKinney. Larry is survived by his grandfather, E.C. Crews of Houston; his mother, Carolyn Williams and husband Bill of Abilene; two sons, Cory McKinney and wife Amanda of Venus, and Casey McKinney of Abilene; one daughter, Candi Stapleton of Abilene; three step-brothers, David, Dan and Daryl Williams; two step-sisters, Donna McCartney and Debbie Steele; four granddaughters, Chelsea and Cheynne McKinney, D'arcy and Danielle Stapleston; two grandsons, Cole and Austin McKinney; as well as several aunts, uncles and many cousins.
