Laken Lackey, 25, of Abilene, passed away on September 15, 2015 in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, from 6:00 to 8:00PM, Thursday September 17, 2015 with a Rosary starting at 7:00PM.
Funeral services will be held at Wylie United Methodist Church on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 3:00PM with Pastor Jeff Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Laken was born in Abilene, Texas to Gene Lackey and Eliane Munoz on August 30, 1990. He graduated from Abilene High School where he was a linebacker for the Abilene Eagles Football Team. Laken attended the University of North Texas and was a graduate of Tulsa Welding School.
Laken was known for his kind heart. Though he was going through his struggles, he had a huge heart and always put others before himself. He made a difference in many lives and helped those through their lowest times. He was a very talented songwriter and always went out of his way to make people feel special. He will forever live in our family and friends’ hearts.
Laken was preceded in death by his grandparents, Angel and Guadalupe Munoz, Alvaro and Maria Calim Silveira, Tom and Ethel Lackey and Montie and Ineatha Pitts.
Laken is survived by his father, Gene Lackey; his mother, Eliane Munoz; his brother, Tyler Lackey; his stepfather, Javier Flores, and his grandparents, Rafael and Eliane Munoz, and Johnny and Melba Lackey; his uncles Alvaro Munoz, Victor Munoz, Johnny Lackey Jr., Drew Jennings, Matthew Tully and Felix Arroyo Jr.; and his aunts Tania Tully, Andrea Munoz and Becky Jennings.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Lackey, Alvaro Munoz, Victor Munoz, Alexander Munoz, Sammy Dena, Jesse Jennings, Josh Jennings, Jacob Jennings, Spens Lackey and Josh Jimenez.
