Kurt Dustin Childress, 38, of Abilene, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 4, 2017. Dusty, as we knew him was born June 19, 1978 to Kurt and Becky Childress at Hendrick Medical Center. They definitely broke the mold when they made Dusty.
He attended Abilene schools and drove a truck most of his life. He met the love of his life in the summer of 2006, and they would come to have the light of their life, Maci Anne Childress, on June 25, 2008.
God not only broke the mold when they made Dusty; He created a man with a heart of gold that stood up for what he believed in. Dusty wasn't only a father, he was a husband, a son, a brother and the best friend and uncle you could wish for, and he did all of them with the most authentic heart.
Dusty loved to ride and spent the last year of his life building the bike of his dreams alongside his brother, his wife and many friends, and though there were many tears and hard work shed, it is a bond that could not be broken. Dusty finished Old Man not long ago, and it is a tribute and will be in loving memory of our dad and now him.
Dusty loved God (even though his faith was tested alongside the rest of us), he loved his family and friends, he loved motorcycles, and music, but most of all he loved this life and the ray of sunshine that God graced him with.
The legacy that Dusty leaves behind is one that will live on forever and we could all learn from.
We love you and miss you beyond words.
"May the wind be always at your back and the sun upon your face; the rain fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand."
Dusty was preceded in death by his Dad, Uncle Scott, his Papaw and Ggmaw and Grandma and Grandpa Childress.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer Quick, and daughter Maci Ann Childress; mom Becky Childress; sister Lacy Childress and children Blaine Booker and Collins Childress-Butz; brother Cody Childress and wife Angela and children Cannyn and Ashtyn Childress; sister Sharon Epperson and husband Wayne and children Katherine and daughter Annabell and Jenna and Connor Fagan. Dusty is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that miss him dearly.
The pallbearers will be Cody Childress, Wes Mantooth, JB Cloud, Jimmy Price, Larry Pickett and Rusty Miller.
