Knolie Fenner, 82, died January 6, 2007, in his home. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Crescent Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Clifton officiating. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Memorial Park.
Knolie was born on August 21, 1924 in Holliday, TX to Lula G. (Bertrand) and Knolie Lee Fenner, Sr. He graduated from Lueders High School and attended Hardin Simmons University studying Geology. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and during the Korean Conflict. He married the love of his life, Isabella Nuzzi Fenner, in 1946 in Galveston, TX. They moved to the Abilene area where Knolie was a resident for 45 years. During this time he was a member of the Association of Professional Petroleum Geologist. Knolie was known to be very generous with his time and knowledge of the oil industry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; one brother, Ronald Dale Fenner and two sisters; Anna Belle Fenner and Wanda Gail Cooper.
Knolie is survived by one daughter, Marsha Marrs and husband, Dwayne of Hodges; one son: Patrick J. Fenner and wife, Debra of Hodges: and one brother; Marcus E. Fenner and wife Jean of Abilene. He is survived by 6 grandchildren; Jennifer Marrs and Fiance Gregg Mogonye; Ryan Marrs; Cory Marrs and wife, Valerie; Matthew Fenner; Stephanie Fenner; and Astin Fenner along with several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will include Lynn Dokey, Rusty Blackstock, Raymond Arreola, Roger Glass, Bud Johnson, Richard Pena, Jeff Gordon, Kenneth Whisenant. Honarary pallbearers will be Dr. Earl P. Harrison, Dorman Farmer, and Taylor Davis.
