Kloyece Lynn Irvin

1947 — January 15, 2017

Kloyece Kiser Irvin, 69, of Abilene, passed away on January 15, 2017. She was born to the late Clois Dale "Speck" Kiser and Dorotha Bill Brewer Kiser in Breckenridge, Texas on August 22, 1947. Kloyece was a 1965 graduate of Abilene High School and a 1969 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Alton Larry Irvin on June 8, 1968. Kloyece was a nurse in Austin, Dallas, and Abilene, and lived a life in service to others. In Abilene, she worked for West Texas Medical Center, and Abilene Regional Medical Center. Kloyece was proud to serve Humana Hospital as Director of Nurses for over 10 years, and also served as the Director of Senior Partners. She was most proud to be a part of the sisterhood of nurses, and was an extraordinary leader and teacher of nurses. She lived with Crohn's disease from 4 years of age and had great empathy for those in pain. This fact made her an outstanding nurse who provided exceptional care to those on her watch. Though she held these demanding positions, Kloyece showed love to her family by cooking a full breakfast and dinner daily, among so many other things. Kloyece enjoyed UT football, was a voracious reader, and was fascinated by genealogy. She spent countless hours researching her family's lineage. She treasured friendships with Mary Lou Sipe, Anne Dominy, and Linda Rutledge. She loved attending book club, and connecting with special friends there. Above all, Kloyece was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored her "grands" and let them know it frequently. She was preceded in death by her parents Speck and Dorotha Kiser, father-in-law Alton Irvin, and her sister-in-law Kathy Kiser. Survivors include her husband, Larry Irvin; daughter, Allison Richards and husband Joey; grandchildren, Case and Arden Richards; mother-in-law, Eva Irvin; siblings, Jerry Kiser and his wife DeAun, Jack Kiser, and Kenneth Kiser and his wife Joyce; brother-in-law, Ken Irvin and wife Loyce; and sister-in-law, Carla Casteel. She also leaves behind numerous other loving relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 21, at 2:00 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, Texas. The family wishes to express thanks to Drs. Headstream, Mather, Yeh and Cole, and the entire staff at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Donations may be made to Rescue the Animals, West Texas SPCA of Abilene or Meals on Wheels Plus, Inc. of Abilene in her honor.
