Kevin Lance Heald, 45, died Sunday, January 15, 2012 at his residence in Abilene, Texas. Born in Dawson County, Texas on May 27, 1966, Kevin was the son of LaTrice (Weir) and Jimmy Wayne Heald and grew up farming in Dawson County, Texas. He was a 1984 graduate of Klondike High School, and in 1985 moved from Dawson County to Abilene, where he attended Abilene Christian University. Kevin was a member of First Baptist Church in Lamesa. He and his wife raised four children with the oldest of the children having just returned from two tours of duty in Iraq. Kevin loved being with his family, music and race cars. He enjoyed watching car races and the airplanes at Dyess AFB, as well as being outdoors and watching the stars. Kevin is survived by his wife, Gathalee McCutchen of Abilene; four children; three grandchildren; parents, Jimmy and LaTrice Heald of Dawson County; and two brothers, Dennis Heald and wife Susie, and Randy Heald all of Dawson County. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, at Victory Church, 2943 South 6th Street in Abilene with Pastor Randy Estes officiating. A graveside service will follow at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday in Lamesa Memorial Park in Lamesa, Texas, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
