Kenneth Jay Wallace, 75, died Sunday, May 8, 2011 at an Abilene medical center.
Born in Abilene, Texas on May 1, 1936, Kenneth was the son of the late Rena (Crank) and Jay Riley Wallace, and lived most of his live in the Abilene area. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran, having served from January 20, 1955 to September 9, 1958.
Kenneth earned a doctorate degree and had formerly been a professor at McMurry University, Texas Tech University, and Hardin-Simmons University. He also had been Dean of Admissions at Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth, Texas.
After his career as an educator, Kenneth pursued another career as a truck driver from which he retired after working for several companies.
Kenneth is survived by his two sons, Michael Wallace of Trent, Texas and Steve Wallace of Colorado; stepson, Phil Wallace of Oklahoma City; sister, Jeanette Wallace McCandless of Texas; three granddaughters, Elizabeth Wallace, April Wallace and Brittany Wallace; three grandsons; one niece and one nephew.
At Kenneth's request, his body will be cremated and no formal services will be held. Arrangements are being made by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the donor's favorite charity.
